Patterns are ready-made groups of blocks. Insert one, then replace its words and images with your own.

Insert a section pattern

Open a page in the block editor.
Select the plus button at the top left, then open Patterns.
Browse a Haldane category or search for a pattern title listed below.
Select the pattern to insert it, then edit its blocks.
Preview and save the page.

Theme patterns use core WordPress blocks and work without Haldane Toolkit. Each insertion is editable on its own. If you save a pattern as a synced pattern, later changes to that synced pattern affect all its uses.

Create a page from a full-page pattern

Open Pages → Add New Page and enter a page title.
Open Patterns and choose the Full pages category.
Insert one full-page pattern into an empty page.
In the page settings, choose Landing page for either Home layout. Choose Full page pattern for the other starter pages.
Replace the sample content, check button links and publish.
For a home page, open Settings → Reading, choose a static front page and select the page you made.

Full-page patterns already contain their opening heading. Using the normal Pages template can show an extra title. The room teaser patterns contain sample content; use the toolkit's Rooms block when you want a listing that updates as you publish rooms.

The pattern library

The titles below match the English pattern library. The short name in brackets identifies the pattern file. Template patterns marked template use are used inside templates or parts and are hidden from the normal page inserter. Edit them through the Site Editor instead.

Hero

Coast hero hero-cover. A wide coastal cover image, heading, text and buttons.

Days around the coast features-three. Three illustrated introductions to activities around the hotel.
An introduction to the house intro-statement. An opening description of the property with room to write in your own voice.
The hotel in numbers stats. A short row of property facts and numbers.
Meet your hosts team-or-hosts. An introduction to the people welcoming guests.

Rooms

Haldane Toolkit patterns

These four patterns appear in the Haldane category while Haldane Toolkit is active. They contain toolkit blocks.

Booking band (haldane-toolkit/booking-band): an illustrated cover section with a Booking bar.
Rooms showcase (haldane-toolkit/rooms-showcase): a heading and a live listing of three published rooms.
Room detail sections (haldane-toolkit/room-detail-sections): gallery, facts, description, highlights, booking card and other rooms. Use it in a room template where a current room is available.
Contact, map and enquiry (haldane-toolkit/contact-map-enquiry): hotel contacts, a click-to-load map and an enquiry form.

Room facts and galleries need a room context. To make a general Rooms page, insert a Rooms block or the Rooms showcase pattern instead of Room detail sections.

Useful block styles

Select a block and open its Styles panel to try its supplied styles. Galleries include Mosaic, Carousel and Fading slideshow. Lists include Checks, Divided and Two columns. Buttons include Outline, Light outline and Text with arrow. Images have a Rounded option; Groups have Card and Menu item options. Columns can use Divided, Separators can use Short, Quotes can use Large, Post Terms can use Pills, and Details blocks can use Frequently asked question.
